Summer Reading

How do you feel the Summer Reading test went?  What could you have done differently?  Did you have trouble connecting your novel to the question?

  1. i feel a very strong dislike feeling towards summer reading. i was completely unprepared. my teacher last year did not even give us warning of this.i could have read the books and got good grades but instead i failed both summer reading tests.yes i had trouble connecting the novel to the question because i had no idea what these books were about.

  2. I feel the summer reading didn't go well at all. Nobody ever told me about it and that is there fault for me failing it. The thing i could of done differently was nothing becasue they told us on the third day of school. I did not have trouble with the question becasue i didnt know anything about the book. I should have asked more around becasue i wasnt postive about it. But, i did know some stuff about the book becasue i did read a little of it

  3. i think that the summer reading test went pretty good . I had to think of what message the book was trying to get across , and once you figured that out , then you were set .

  4. I think that the summer reading test went very well. I feel I did not have really any trouble on the test. I had a little trouble in the beggin but I re-read the a few pages in the book to help me connect to it better. I could of not procrasinate. And not read the book the weekend before. So maybe next time I will try to do better and read the book though out the summer. <3

  5. Personally the summer reading test was difficult. It would of been a lot easier if i took the time to read the book. I watched the movie and read sparknotes and it helped me with most of it. The question was complicated to me. I didn't really comprehend the idea of navigating their dreams to reality. Overall i didn't think i did too bad on the test.

  6. I knew the story well. I think I did okay on the test. I only read about half of the book, but I watched the movie. I really wish I would've read the whole book because the movie was so good. I had a little trouble connecting the story to the question, but I don't think I did too bad.

  7. I think the summer reading went well. It was a little hard to understand. I could have read the book more carefully. I think I wote more of a summery then what the question asked. I did have some trouble connecting my novel to the question. The whole dream and reality thing didn't go with my book that well. But other then that I think it was easy to understand.

  8. I feel I did poorly on this Summer Reading test. The thing that I could of done better is that I could have connected the question to my book. Also, I could have understood my book a little bit more than what I did. Yes I did have troble connecting the novel to the question. The reason why I believe I had trouble is because you asked how the main characters dreams turned into a reality. With my book it was a autobiography of himself as a child so was hard to connect the question. Next, with my book in his book he really never mentioned a dream that he had. With that it added another obstacle with connecting the question to the book.

  9. I feel i did really well on my Summer Reading test. I felt confident when I began; and I felt confident when I turned my essay in. There are a few things I could have done differntly. I feel there are better words I could have used in certain situations. I also feel I could have quoted from the book a lot more. I did not have trouble connecting my novel because they state Medea's dreams quite often in the novel Medea. Also Medea actually changes her dreams half way through the story thus letting me write nearly twice as much then I would normally.

  10. I felt it was okay but it had some flaws in it. I probably could have read the book more than ounce to better understand it. Also, I could have slowed my pace of reading to understand it better. I did not have trouble connecting to the question because the question was really made for my book. I felt that it was not really related to most of the other books. I thought it was just for the Seceret Life of Bees.

  11. I believe this summer reading test was much easier then last years. It wasnt a whole giant test. It was a simple question.I could have re-read the book and went over it more then i did. Also, the book was decent so i could atleast follow the book, this made me atleast somewhat understand the book.I had a little trouble connecting with the book but it wasnt that bad.

  12. I feel as if summer reading as asier then last years but it was still difficult in some ways. The book I read this year was a lot better then last so that was a plus in making it easier to explain. One of the problems I had with explaining the main charaters was that there was many charaters that had their own specific part in this story. Because of that, I had trouble picking out the character who was most important. Since I like the story it was easy to understand and write about. The fact that we didn't have a huge test to worry about also.

  13. Summer reading test was a little difficult,i rather write about one character instead about the main characters, because they really didnt have an destiny or goal. And how my book was was really hard to connect it.and I rather had it to be multiple choice question then open ended.

  14. I feel that i did ok on the summer reading test. it was a little tough remembering all the events from the book i read which was colors of the mountain. I had a tiny bit of trouble connecting the novel to the question. But i got the hang of it and managed to write 4 or 5 paragraphs. I coulve have thought a little harder on what i was going to write. I coulve jotted down a few notes on what i was going to write and then i would start to write my essay

  15. Yes, beacuse I did not read it, I am lazy and I understand that beacase of this I will proably fail, but I digress. What I did though was write about a book I did read was Skeleton Crew by Stephen King. I used one of the stories from there called "The Raft".I liked it, it was what I expected and well, it was grusome and pretty well thouhgt out in some parts. So I re-iterrated what I remebered and tried to tell what the charters exppected and how they ended up dead and some of them insane and dead. All and all I hope I get some points for what I wrote.

  16. I feel as though a did a good job on the test. I wrote several paragraphs in complete sentences. One of the things i wish i had done better was use my time better. If i had done that I could have written it in more detail. I also wish I could have written another paragraph. Other then those two things i feel i did a really good job.

  17. I think the summer reading test went really well. I could have payed a little bit more attention to the characters in the book, but overall it went well. I felt like i did good on it. I could connect the novel and the question, i knew most about the characters. But a little more wouldnt of hurt. Each character was on an adventure somewhat. It was fairly easy to explain there journey, and how the outcome of that person was during the course of the story.

  18. I think I did farly well on the summer reading test. It wasnt that hard but I wish I went over my character notes a little more the night before. But I know the story pretty well so it wasnt a problem connecting the question and the story together. Also all the characters in the story were very detailed and each were on there own journey in some way. The author mad theyre journeys very obvious in some ways. I payed close attention to the details as i was reading the story and I hope it payed off. <3

  19. I didnt know there was a summer reading thing for this year. If i did know i would have read one of the books for this year. i didnt even know that i had to do one for eleventh grade. i did have trouble connecting the questions to the book because i didnt read it. i dont like to read. i also deffinatly dont like summer reading.

  20. i dont think the summer reading test didnt go well. it didnt go well becouse people dont tell me that i dont have summer reading. i guess i could of figre out that we had summer reading. i could of ask a freind if we had summer reading.no i didnt have trouble reading the book becouse i didnt read.

  21. I feel that the summer reading test was very hard. I honestly think I did terrible. I should have read the book slower, so i got a better understanding of it. I had a lot of trouble connecting the novel to the question, I think if I read the novel a second time I would have understood it better.

  22. Horrible, because I had no idea I even had to read anything. I could have actually known I had a book to read. I didn't take it, I took a zero.

  23. I think the summer reading test went well. I like how the book "Medea" was short enough to read in a day. Though i think it would have been easier if i had a book to look at. wasn't sure if i needed to make the references, but since i didnt have the book i couldnt anyway. it wasn't that hard to connect the book to the question. (>^.^)>

  24. I think i did ok on the summer reading essay. I don't think i could have done much different because i couldn't understand the book. I think that what I wrote was the best i could do and i'm confident in it. I had trouble conecting the novel to the question because it didn't explain the any dreams of any kind. I didn't know what character to write on so i just took the main character and pointed out how she was crazy. That was the best that i could do however. I didn't understand my book much at all.

  25. I think the summer reading test went well, i felt confident in my essay and hope it turns out well. I'm not sure what i could have done diffrently cause im assured i did the best i could. And yes i did have a little trouble connecting my novel to the question. The reasoning for that is because the question i felt like didnt follow my book because the questin made the book seem like a dream. My book in my opinion didnt bring a dream to reality.

  26. I think the test went alright ,I didnt get all my thoughts across because of the time but the question was fair ,I didnt understand it at first but then after I read it a couple more times I finally understood. I could have answerd the question more directly becuase I sort of just went around it ,yes I did have trouble connecting my story to the question because I didnt understand what it ment my expectation to reality.

  27. The test as a whole was simple and short compared to some questions I've answered previously. I thought the question was somewhat easy to answer once I understood the question. I think I wrote a very good response, but I probably could of used more detail. I felt that some details could be left out based on the question. I understood my book very well and could translate it to paper with ease. The book made aswering the question easy since it was a real story on a subject that I have some familiarity with

  28. i think the summer reading test was a little complicated. the question was hard to connect to the story for me. the book didnt talk about her dreams to much. i think i t would of been alot easier if i remembered to bring my book.

  29. I had no trouble with my book.I thought it was a complet waste of time ,because of the poor choices of books none of the books were any good nore did they entertain me. I am not sure how i did on the test because i wasnt really sure of what the questiong was asking.Maybe in future you should make it reader friendly. Also the question in the form you had didnt really fit all of the books it tended to favor two of them.Which put some people in a bad blace

  30. I feel the summer reading test went well. Thinking back on it, I have so much more to say. If i didn't run out of time I think I could have made my answer better. I took to long on my intro, I feel that the peron reading my answer should know a little bit about the book. Because of the fact I took so long on the summery I didn't have much time to word my answer in the best way. To me I did not get my point across as clear as I wanted to. I didn't have any trouble connecting with my novel question. I enjoyed my book. I'm all about following your dreams and fighting for what you feel is right so it was neat reading about Lily and how she acomplishes her goals.

  31. I think the summer reading test went pretty well. Personally I thought the test was a bit difficult. Looking back at it now, I feel as though I could have done better. I wish I didn't summerize it so much. I feel like i wasted time thinging about the question too much and talking about what happened in the book more than connecting it to the question. I didn't find it too hard to connect the story to the question but I do think I could have done it more throughly.

  32. I think the summer reading test was quite pointless. It was a general question instead of asking a specific question about the book. Also, there should be more then one question so the students can't share the answers. I felt that the question could be easily answered. The books were interesting, so i think the question should be challenging. Other than that, I think that the summer reading was generally okay.

  33. I think the summer reading essay went by fast and easy. I could have added more quotes from the book, but I think I overall, good. I added a lot of example and I personally had no problem connecting the book to the question asked. In conclusion, I breezed through.

  34. I think that the Summer Reading test went okay. I think that I took too much time on the first three paragraphs, so they were really long, while the last two were a little bit short because the period was almost over. So my essay was these three awesome quote filled paragraphs, with these two other ones that weren't that good. :)

  35. I felt the Summer Reading test was difficult. I didn't really connect with the book as much as i had liked, which i think may have affected my test results. I could have tried harder to understand the text in the novel to improve on my score. I did not have too much trouble connecting the question to the novel it was just putting my thoughts into words that caught me up.

  36. I felt that the summer reading test didnt go so good. I don't think I did that good on it at all. It probally would've helped if I actually read all of my book. I would've done that differently. I only knew little about the story. I had alot of trouble with understanding and connecting with the question. The question was not was I was expecting it to be.

  37. I think I did alright on the summer reading test. It was not as hard as I thought it would be, however, I do not think I did very well on it. The question was clear to me and I don't think I had troubles connecting it to the novel, since I read it and enjoyed it and understood it, but I somehow couldn't express my thoughts and organize them together to form a nice essay. I feel that I was weak to relate my answers to the central theme and wrote too much off-topic things. I want to improve my writing skills. I was a little bit short on time as well. I could have done more preparation before the test and maybe drafted a little. Overall, I think I did okay on the test; it could have been better but I tried my best.
