  1. The doll house has a lot of symbols. The girls look in the doll house and they see the mother, and father dolls. "They look as if they don't belong". I think that this is a symbol of impurity. When you see a doll house, you think about a little girl, that is happy, and doesn't have a care in the world. When the girls saw the two dolls sitting in the living room of the doll house, they described them as nit belonging there.

  2. The doll house shows class in my mind. This is because only those who are rich can see or touch the doll house. But at the end of the story the youngest burnell girl invites the poor kids over."i got to see the lamp" this quotes shows that the doll house is of great importance and that she felt honored to see it. This is how i feel about what went on in the story.

  3. Within the story "The Doll House" shows the spereration of classes. Only the higher class students are allowed to see the new doll house. Even though the poorest students, the Kelveys, cannot see the doll house, as instructed by the adults to keep class seperation. When the little girl says "I seen the lamp" it shows that class doesn't matter, but everyone reacts the same to the sight of the doll house and its lamp.

  4. The Doll's House has many symbols. One of the symbols were the dolls that didn't belong. I think that this is a symbol because it relates to the fact the Kelvey girls were always excluded and didn't belong. Another symbol is the little lamp that is in the doll house, Kezia's favorite part was the lamp. She really took that in as being the most important thing and in the end of the story Else said "I seen the little lamp." It really connected both of them together. I feel like because the Burnells werent aloud to talk to the Kelvesy when Kezia invited Lil and Else in to the doll house it showed Else that Kezia thought they belonged just as much as the other girls and it made the sisters feel special just like Kezia though the lamp made the house look special.

  5. A symbol that stood out to me was the lamp in the house. Kezias favorite part was the lamp beacause it seemed so real and perfect in the house. When Kezia got caught bringing the Kelvey sisters over her aunt said "You know as well as I do, you're not allowed to talk to them." This was beacause the Burnell's and Kelvey sisters were in two differnt social classes. As Else was running away she said "I seen the little lamp". I think this shows that even two people rich and poor can still come together and relate to the same things.

  6. There are many symbols in "The doll's house." The first symbol is the dolls in the dollhouse that do not belong there. The Kelveys are prejudiced against because their father is in jail and their mother is a washerwoman. The Burnells are not even allowed to speak to them. "Many children, including the Burnells, were allowed not even to speak to them." "But the line had to be drawn somewhere. It was drawn at the Kelveys." There are many social and cultural tensions in the community. The second symbol is the lamp. Else Kelvey saw the lamp as she and her sister were running away from the Burnell's house when their grandmother caught Kezia showing the kelveys the dollhouse. "I seen the little lamp".-Else Kelvey I was hoping that the lamp would bring some joy and light into the Burnell household so that they would stop being prejudiced towards the Kelveys . Everything would go back to normal. -Kristian Mcniss period 3

  7. a good symbol from the doll house would be the tiny lamp. It was tiny and not really noticeable which represented Keiza. Keiza was ever really recognized since she was younger and Isabel had been taking all the attention for the doll house they had. At the end of the story our else says "I seen the little lamp." This opened up a new connection for Keiza and our else. This was because our else was never really noticed before even her sister was seen more than her so the lamp represents the similarity between the two of them.

  8. The doll house uses the lamp as a symbol. all of the young girls see the the lamp as the thing that they had finally just seen it just like ever one else in the story. it is mainly used when the kelveys finally get to see it and they say "i saw it, the tiny lamp. i saw it" it shows that they were finally treated like everyone else

  9. After reading the story the main symbol I kept thinking about was definitely the dolls in the doll house. The Kelvey sisters were always excluded from everyone else. When the girls look in the doll house and they see the dolls that stand out and say "They look as if they don't belong. That triggered in my mind that the little dolls in the house represent the daughters in the story.

  10. A symbol that really stood out to me was the lamp. The lamp was considered to be Kezia's favorite part of the entire house. When she look at the lamp, she felt like everything was perfect. She felt like everything was okay, which made her comfortable. It brought the family together. Another symbol of this story would be prejudice. Throughout the whole story, the Kelvey family was discriminated against because they were not as fortunate as the Burnell's. The Kelvey girls were treated like dirt and weren't allowed to look at the doll house.

  11. There are many symbols in the story The Dolls House. The first symbol that I noticed is relating to the two dolls that don't fit the size of the house. This made me belive that those dolls represented the Kelvey sisters. The sisters had always stuck out and had been exculded from the rest of sociaty. The reason for this is because of their mothers social class, and also for the fact that there father is in jail. At the end of the story when the two kelvey sisters seen the doll house Else said "I seen the little lamp." I think this symbolizes that she feels like she has been excepted even if it was only by the one person that had also beleived that lamp was special.

  12. The Doll's House has many symbols. One that was evident from the beginning was the lamp. The lamp seemed to be the smallest piece of the doll house, and something everyone would always overlook. Except for Kezia of course, which relates back to their life since Kezia is the only one out of the family to notice the Kelvey sisters. At the end of the story our Else says, "I seen the little lamp" which ties the whole story together. The lamp symbolizes the Kelveys.

  13. In the story "The doll house" there are many symbols shown. Most of the symbols come from the actual doll house itself. The lamp in the dollhouse symbolized a connection between Kezia and the Kelvey sister. No one else really noticed the lamp and admired it as much as the two girls so i thought in a way it brought them closer together. Another symbol in the story is the dolls in the dollhouse, it looked as if they didn't belong there. The dolls symbolized the children and how they felt something wasn't right like how they were raised to be so judgmental.

  14. There were so many symbols in this story. I would say the dolls were a symbol. The size of the kid dolls and the blended in parents showed the difference of the kids. The little lamp was a huge part of it. When she says that she saw the little lamp, it showed that she belonged and they had a connection. Those are some of the symbols that were in this story.

  15. There are a few symbols in "The Doll's House". One symbol is the doll house itself. Its a symbol because it was showing how only the rich kids had material things that other kids wanted. Another symbol were the dolls in the house, I thought that they showed the cast system like how they Burnell's and Kelvey's were two different levels in the system. The last symbol in this story I think, was the lamp. I think this was a symbol because Kezia and Else each saw something significant about it, and it made a connection between them. "I seen the little lamp."

  16. The lamp was a symbol in "The Doll House". It stood out to Kezia and our Else as well. Both of them go unnoticed in social situations so the lamp stood out to them as something small and insignificant but highly complex. It reminded it of them because it would go unnoticed but had a lot to offer to those who did. Else makes a remark on this when she says "I seen the little lamp". The doll house itself was also a symbol of society. The first pair of dolls represented the Burnells because they fit in with the house but the second pair represent the Kelveys as they didn't fit in with the rest of the house.

  17. There are many symbols in this story, "The Doll's House." The lamp is one of the symbols, it symbolizes that something dosnt have to be big and noticable to be something great and that you should notice the little things in life. Also the fact that the little poor girls noticed the same thing as the rich girls shows that they are equal. The only thing that makes them different is their wealth. Also another symbol is the Dolls that come in the doll house. The Burnell's state "They look as if they dont belong" shows that they noticed they were different, just like they noticed the Kelvey sisters were different. I think it symbolizes that the girls can notice when something dosnt belong but they accept it into their dollhouse. Just like the youngest Burnell sister accepts the Kelvey sisters as they are to go see the doll house.

  18. There are many symbols in, "The Doll House", but the one that stuck out most to me was the lamp. Through out the story the characters go through judgements of their social status. In the story the youngest child Kezia was fascinated by the lamp. I think this is because she can relate to it because it is small and goes unnoticed as she does. When Kezia finally gets her way and lets the Kelvey sisters see the house that is when the other symbol appears. Instead of Else being upset over being chased away she said with a smile on her face, "I seen the little lamp." This statement brings out another symbol of the relationship the two girls could of had if the case system wasn't there.

  19. The Doll House had many examples of symbols. They were used alot through out the story. The Doll's could have represented the Kelvey sisters. The doll's stood out in the doll house. Just like the Kelvey sisters stood out at school. Another symbol was the lamp. "But Kezia liked more than anything, what she liked frightfully, was the lamp."

  20. There are a ton of symbols for the doll house. For starters the size of the house is symbolic. The house is small which can be used to represent Keiza. I also feel the lamp is very symbolic. I feel the lamp represents what the girls want. The lamp is the only thing that fits with the house and all the children want is to fit in with society. "I seen the little lamp."

  21. The Doll house has many different symbols. Most of the symbols may have showed how the Kelvey sisters acted. The lamp in my opion was the most surprsing was the lamp because Kezia was very into it. Heres why "But Kezia liked more than anything, what she liked frightfully was the lamp"

The most important symbol in "The Doll's House" was the doll house itself. The doll house represented social classes in society. One family of dolls was of a higher social class, so they got to live inside the doll house. The other family of dolls was in a lower social class, so they could not live in the doll house and they envied and adored the family who did live in the doll house. The dolls represented the two families; one of high social class, the other of low social class. The lamp's symbol may be interpreted. Maybe the lamp stands for something Kezia wanted, like the doll house. The lamp may also symbolize that Kezia was small and unnoticed, just like the lamp. But Kezia points out that she does see the lamp, perhaps the lamp being her, and she wants to make herself feel better; she wants to feel noticed.

  23. the doll house has many symblos about people and life. it shows how people self separate themselves due to class and social rank. Lena makes remarks to the Kelveys just to fit it and Isabella talks about her doll house for popularity. it shows people for their rudeness, fakeness, sensativity and eye for detail. i feel like the most significant symbol is Else finally feling like she fits in. "I seen the little lamp."

  24. The main symbol in this story that stood out to me were the dolls inside the doll house. The dolls don't seem to fit in with the rest of the doll house. The dolls "were really too big for the doll's house. They didn't look as though they belonged." I think that the dolls represent the Kelvey's. The Kelvey's also do not fit in with everyone else. They are excluded and treated as outcasts. "the Kelvey's were shunned by everybody. Even the teacher had a special voice for them." The dolls look as if they do not belong in the doll house just like the Kelvey's do not belong with the rest of the families.

  25. The symbol of the doll house is society. In there society the Kelveys are ignored and no one talks to them. Also inside the doll house there were 2 sets of dolls. "Were really too big for the doll's house. They didnt look as though they belonged." I think the dolls on the top floor represented the Burnells because they are higher class, and are thought of as 'bigger' than the Kelveys. So, the dolls on the borrom must be the Kelveys because they are low class people and are 'smaller' than everyone else.

  26. The symbol that stuck out the most for me was the lamp. The lamp i thought represented the common ground between the Kevley sisters and Kieza. I thought the dolls out represtend the Kevely sisters becuase they were out of place in the doll house as the Kevely sisters are in society. Finally, what else I thought was a symbol was when Else said she saw the lamp. I thought this showed a bond between her and Kieza that could break the bonds of society and thier respected social class. "I seen the little lamp".

  27. There are many symbols in the story The Doll House. For example the doll house itself is a symbol that shows the Burnell's superiority over other girls. All of the other girls in the school wanted so badly to see the Burnell's doll house. In addition, the lamp was an important symbol. The lamp was a symbol that connected Kezia and Else. Both girls were the younger ones in the family and both were somewhat outcasts. Both of these girls both liked the lamp such as when Else said at the end of the story "I seen the little lamp."

  28. There were many symbols I noticed in "the Doll's house". The one symbol that stood out the most in this story was the lamp. Kezia, the youngest burnell sister pointed out the precious lamp and how it was the best part of the house. However no one else liked the lamp like Kezia did. When she let the Kelveys see the doll house Else said "I seen the little lamp" this shows that although the two girls were in a different part of the caste system that was prevalent in this story they could still have the same opinions and like the same things

  29. This story uses a lot of symbols. The house represents the town they live in. They are many different things but together they make one working thing. The dolls, though, are too big, "were too big for the doll's house. They looked as though they belonged". This I feel represents the little girls, Lil and Else Kelvey. The other kids and their parents made them outcasts.

  30. There were a few symbols in the story The Doll House. The first one to stick out to me was the lamp. The reason for this is because in my mind it was the only thing that actually looked like it fit in. Also, this lamp had brought together two different social classes. You tell this at the end when Esle says as she's running away "I seen the little lamp". Another symbol is the doll house itself because it was a sign of wealth.

"They look as if they dont belong." This quote is used in the novel "The Doll House." The lamb was deffinatly important in the doll house because it represented the little girl. She felt like it was special but not many people noticed it. Just like the little girl, she was very smart and had a lot of opinions but no one cared to hear what she had to say because she was little.

  32. Symbols are commonly demonstrated through the story The Doll's House. The very first obvious symbol is the doll's house that the Burnells received in the beginning of the story. It is the cause of the later events and sets up the basic storyline. The doll's house could be interpreted in few ways in my opinion; it could represent the wealth, power and superiority that the Burnells and such upper-class have but excludes people like the Kelveys. It could also be interpreted as a form of desire and jealousy that the rest of the girls at the school have for they do not have such a doll house. The quote "Days passed, and as more children saw the doll's house, the fame of it spread. It became the one subject, the rage." shows it. Another symbol is rather tiny, the lamp that Kezia liked a lot as the Kelvey sisters noticed too. The lamp is rather unnoticeable and insignificant among a houseful of exquisite decorations, which resembles the position that Kezia holds in her family, being the youngest child and often overlooked. The Kelveys notice it too because they face such despisement way more harder than Kezia, and that they long to be seen valued and equal as everything else. " 'I seen the little lamp," she said, softly."

  33. In the story there were three major symbols: the doll's house, the little lamp and the keleveys . They all ties in the level of society high class and low class. The doll house symbolizes richness ,the lamp symbolize the comfortness and the keleveys symbolize lower class. The keleveys are treated bad and ignored by the people of the town because they have less money so when the keleveys sister go and see the doll house the aunt gets upset because of the keleveys background. There are many symbols used in the story : the doll house, the little lamp and the keleveys. "How dare you ask the keleveys to come!".VC
